Day of the Dead / El Dia de los Muertos es el 2 de noviembre.
If you're looking for a little diversion plan to attend the Day of the Dead celebration at the Des Moines Art Center. This is a free event from 1-4 PM. Enjoy refreshments, pan de muerto ("bread of the dead"), mariachi music, an authentic blessing dance, theatrical perofrmance, a Day of the Dead altar (la ofrenda--the offering), y mucho, mucho mas! Sera divertidisimo!!

Fun! que divertido!
I'm planning on going. For the past couple of years I've been volunteering with the kids activities for it. But that might just be because crafts were my favorite part when I was little. :)
Did anyone go?
I loved the day of the dead bread, it had this great hint of orange in it...
I also thought the Aztec dance at the beginning really cool.
I'M COMMENTING ON YOUR BLOG, MRS. FREDREGILL!!!! Sorry, just so you would notice... haha. So, whose excited for Thanksgiving?!?

Me gusta 'idiom' de espanol. It's fun to see them literally translated. Chinese has some fun ones too.
I made a HUGE loaf of pan de muertos to share tomorrow! Remind me to show you!
I uploaded some captures and photos of my visit to the Day of the Dead at the art center up onto my online gallery:

Great pics from the Art Center celebration--thanks for sharing them. And thanks for the awesome Pan de Muerto! It was to "die" for. Hehehe! It truly was better than any I've had before. Bravo to you for having the patience to wait for yeast to do its thing!
